Chile is a country in South America occupying a long coastal strip between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean. It borders Argentina, Bolivia and Perú.

Chile is a country of extreme beauty and startling contrasts and stretches for over 4,300 km (2,700 mi) down the southwestern coast of South America, containing an environment that ranges from the the ancient forests of the Lake District to the volcanic peaks of the Andes mountains.

Many opportunities exist for adventurous travelers to explore the country, which is famous as the location of the finest nature travel destination in all of South America, the Torres del Paine.

Chile includes-the Juan Fernandez Islands and the well known Easter Island, both islands are administered as national parks. The Juan Fernandez islands are located in the pacific Ocean 670 km from the Chilean coast, while Easter Island is located 3700 km from the mainland.

The geographic and administrative regions of Chile consist of the following, Antofagasta, Atacama, Biobio, Coquimbo, La Araucania, Los Lagos, Magallanes, Maule, Patagonia, Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Santiago, Valparaiso.
